This morning, the first practice session kicked off the final round of the MotoE World Championship, the San Marino GP. Mattia Casadei led the session, setting a new lap record for the electric bikes category at the Misano circuit.
After the initial laps, Casadei (LCR E-Team) was already leading, but after the second attempts, Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) took the top spot on the timesheets, staying there for about five minutes.
He was overtaken by Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar), but in the final moments, Casadei set a new lap record: 1m40.484s. Thus, he beat the Spaniard by 0.124s to finish the session on top. Zaccone was third.
The top five was completed by Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) and Óscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi). Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP), who is in prime position to win the championship, started with a ninth-place finish, 0.422s off the top.
