Miguel Oliveira will be a rider for Prima Pramac Racing in MotoGP starting next season, thus joining Yamaha’s satellite team. This marks another challenge in his career, once again with a team that is now switching constructor partners in a growth project, similar to those he faced at KTM and Aprilia’s satellite team.
When asked in a press conference about what led him to accept the challenge at Pramac, the Portuguese first mentioned: ‘I think first of all it’s a little bit the shift on the focus that they are having at the moment to develop the current bike. Despite the rules changing in two-year time, Yamaha doesn’t want to wait much longer to come back to the top’.
On the other hand, Oliveira is confident in his ability to adapt quickly, in the help he can provide, and motivated by being at Pramac: ‘After being involved with two different manufacturers, I feel my adaptation capability is quite high, I’m riding in a totally different way than I was riding two years ago. And I think this can help for sure give feedback and getting things going quicker. Having a second factory team and being involved in such a team as Pramac is a huge motivation for me as you can imagine, and I can’t wait to getting started’.
The #88 then said: ‘I’m ready to work. I think it’s going to be tough for sure, because at the moment maybe you don’t see the result of their effort yet, but I think in the near future we’ll be able to be back to challenge for important results. How long it will take I don’t know, but I think sooner or later we’ll be there. We are talking about one of strongest manufacturers in the whole paddock, so I think once they decide and commit to do something, it’s a matter of time that they do it. And hopefully my contribution will be nice to that’.
