Alonso López once again led the way in the second practice session for the Moto2 Aragon GP. However, the wet track conditions rendered this session largely unrepresentative, with only eight riders managing to stay within 105% of the fastest lap time.
Boscoscuro bikes dominated the session. López (Sync SpeedUp), Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi), and Fermín Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp) took turns leading during the first 14 minutes until Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) moved to the front for the first time.
After 26 minutes, Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) briefly led before López returned to the top just past the halfway mark. Although Dixon managed to beat López’s time, the Spaniard responded immediately with the only lap of the session in the 1m59s range. He finished as the leader, 1.721s ahead of the British rider, with Aldeguer, García, and Chantra rounding out the top five.
The combined standings, determining the 14 riders who automatically qualify for the second qualifying, was dictated by yesterday’s Practice 1. López was the fastest, 0.223s ahead of Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex).
In 14th place, Izán Guevara (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) secured the last direct spot in Q2, narrowly edging out Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) by just 0.026s. Championship leaders Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) and García are among the other riders who will have to go through Q1.
