David Alonso was the standout performer on the first day of the Moto3 GP in Aragón. After leading the morning practice, he continued his dominance in the afternoon session, setting a new lap record at MotorLand Aragón.
José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) led for the first 25 minutes, only to be overtaken by Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP). The Dutchman briefly lost the top spot to Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) but quickly regained it.
In the following minutes, David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) also made a brief appearance at the top, before Rueda reclaimed the lead. However, Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar) then put in a sequence of two fast laps, culminating in a record-breaking time of 1m57.052s.
No one could match the Colombian’s pace, although Rueda improved to finish second, 0.210s behind. David Almansa (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) secured the third-fastest time, ahead of Veijer and Muñoz. Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM), currently second in the championship, recorded the sixth-best time, 0.890s off Alonso’s pace.
