Franco Morbidelli has already proven that he is capable of fighting for top positions in MotoGP, as evidenced by his runner-up finish in 2020. After challenging years with Yamaha, he is now with Pramac, riding a Ducati and aiming to return to the top, as the bike has shown its potential – especially in the hands of Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín.
The Italian admitted to Motosan.es that these two riders are his current benchmarks, considering them the strongest in the premier class at the moment:
– You have to look at what the best are doing. Bagnaia and Jorge are the best in the category and in Ducati, and they do very well in every practice, every session, every qualifying, every race, every Sprint… so I look very closely at what they do.
After 11 Grands Prix, Morbidelli is in 11th place in the championship, with a fifth-place finish as his best result. An accident at the end of January caused him to miss the entire preseason, which significantly affected his adaptation to Prima Pramac Racing and the Ducati Desmosedici GP24.
