Kevin Zannoni set a new MotoE lap record at the Red Bull Ring to lead the second practice session of the Austrian GP. All riders improved their times compared to the morning session.
Chaz Davies (Aruba Cloud) was the first to complete a flying lap, but was quickly overtaken by Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar). The Spaniard, who led the first practice, was then beaten by Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP).
Garzó, the championship leader, was overtaken by Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) just seconds later. The Italian improved to 1m38.180s shortly after, setting a new record lap time.
Until the end, no one could move ahead of Zannoni, who finished in first place with a 0.121s advantage over Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team). Garzó ended up in third, followed by Torres and Óscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi).
Directly qualifying for the second phase of qualifying were Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing), Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), and Lukas Tulovic (Dynavolt Intact GP), with Miquel Pons (Axxis-MSi) missing out by just 0.001s.
