Glenn Irwin was unstoppable on Sunday during the Snetterton round of the British Superbike Championship (BSB). The rider won both races held that day, following Storm Stacey’s surprising victory in the rain on the previous day.
In the second race of the weekend, Stacey (LKQ Euro Parts Kawasaki) led in the early stages before being overtaken by Kyle Ryde (OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing). However, Irwin (Hager PBM Ducati) proved even stronger and managed to take the lead. The race was stopped: after the safety car was called in due to Louis Valleley’s bike catching fire, rain started falling, necessitating a red flag.
Upon the restart, there were five laps to go. Ryde made a strong start to take the lead, but Irwin made the decisive pass at Agostini. From then on, he was never overtaken and secured the victory with a 1.487s advantage. Ryde found himself in a battle for second place, which he couldn’t keep: Tommy Bridewell (Honda Racing UK) finished second, and Christian Iddon (Oxford Products Racing Ducati) ended up third, with Ryde in fourth.
As for the third race at Snetterton, Iddon had the strongest start, taking the lead ahead of Ryde. Irwin quickly overtook Danny Kent (McAMS Racing Yamaha) and moved into second place on the fourth lap by passing Ryde.
In the lead, Iddon managed to hold off Irwin, while Bridewell also joined the fight. On the seventh lap, Irwin took the lead, briefly losing it to Bridewell. The Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider immediately regained his position but lost it definitively on the next lap.
The final lap was filled with excitement, with the fight for victory wide open among the top three. Irwin successfully defended his lead, winning with just a 0.125s margin over Bridewell. Iddon completed the podium, 0.740s behind. After this round, Irwin leads the championship with 177 points, four points ahead of Bridewell.
