Pedro Acosta bounced back from his second DNF of the season with a seventh-place finish at the MotoGP German GP. While this result is far from his best so far, it helped restore some confidence before the summer break.
However, not everything went smoothly for the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider, who sustained damage to his bike after an incident with Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Racing): ‘Well, it was better than we expected to be honest. It’s true I had some contact with Raúl – he hit the seat of the bike and he broke the seat wing. But it was funny. At the end I was quite fast, the only thing is that we lost a lot of time at the beginning of the race’, he said.
Clarifying what went wrong at the start, Acosta said: ‘I didn’t disengage the front device again and I was with the device engaged until turn 3. And we had chatter and then at turn 3 I needed to make a massive braking to take it out. For this I was losing a lot of time’.
As for his comeback during the race, the Spaniard commented: ‘Overtaking [Marco] Bezzecchi was for sure one of the toughest, and maybe we lost a bit of time also with Raúl. But now it’s done, and it was a good race after all’.
That said, Acosta was not entirely pleased with the Sachsenring round: ‘No, it was a bad weekend. But we managed to not be a disaster’.
