Half of the MotoGP grid for 2025 is officially filled, but only ten seats remain while ten current riders do not have secured bikes. Fermín Aldeguer has already been confirmed by Ducati, though it remains to be seen which satellite team he will be placed in. This leaves ten spots for at least 11 riders (potentially 12 or 13).
At this moment, there are 11 riders without contracts, and considering the debut of the Spaniard, at least one of them will be left without a spot on the grid. There could be more, as it is speculated that Joe Roberts may be an option for Trackhouse Racing, while the Italian press reported last week that Honda has made an offer to Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The factory teams Aprilia, Ducati, and Red Bull KTM are already full, as is the Red Bull KTM Tech3, which is currently the only satellite team with both riders confirmed for next year.
Repsol Honda has Luca Marini under contract, with the question remaining whether Joan Mir will renew amid rumors about Razgatlioglu. As for Monster Energy Yamaha – which might still have a satellite team – they have Fabio Quartararo signed until 2026. Álex Rins’ contract is up at the end of this year, but a renewal is expected. LCR Honda also has one rider guaranteed – Johann Zarco. The uncertainty lies with Takaaki Nakagami’s continuation.
For the other teams, no riders have been announced yet. Pramac, a satellite team of Ducati, is speculated to potentially switch to Yamaha – which would significantly impact rider choices. Franco Morbidelli would likely not continue, while Aldeguer would no longer be an option.
At Gresini, it is certain that Marc Márquez will not continue as he has been announced with Ducati, leaving the question of whether his brother Álex will stay or not. For VR46, with Marco Bezzecchi heading to Aprilia, the question is who will replace him and whether Fabio Di Giannantonio will stay or go.
At Trackhouse Racing, none of the current riders have contracts or confirmed projects for 2025. Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández are, therefore, uncertain about their future, which may or may not involve their current team and MotoGP. Other riders whose continuation in the grid is still in doubt include Augusto Fernández and Jack Miller, who already know they will not stay with KTM and must find a place if they wish to remain in the premier class.
