There is a lot of uncertainty in the MotoGP rider market at the moment. About half of the seats are still up for grabs, and several high-profile riders are without contracts – such as Álex Rins, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, Joan Mir, Marco Bezzecchi, and Miguel Oliveira.
One of the teams without any confirmed riders is Trackhouse, which currently has Oliveira and Raúl Fernández, with Joe Roberts being speculated as a strong possibility. Analyst Ricard Jové stated on the Dura la Vita podcast that he believes in Fernández’s continuity but not in that of the Portuguese rider:
– I dare say that within Aprilia, in this case at Trackhouse […], I think Raúl Fernández will be there, will continue there, and not Oliveira, I believe. And although we have said and talked about, for example, the possibility of Mir joining that team – I don’t know how that situation stands, I insist. But it is true that [Massimo] Rivola subtly hinted that having a rookie like Roberts might not be the best option when there are still many experienced riders on the market – world champions like Mir, etc., who are available. Because we have to do something with Miller – I insist, for the MotoGP market, Australia is important, for example.
Regarding the factory Aprilia team, Jové commented: ‘Specifically at the factory Aprilia team, I don’t know… it could even be Bezzecchi and [Fabio] Di Giannantonio as Italian options; it all depends on how the Pramac situation ends, if it stays with Yamaha as it seems. And then who stays at Ducati’.
