Miguel Oliveira was 19th on the second day of MotoGP tests in Sepang. The Trackhouse Racing rider worked on the aerodynamics and geometry of the 2024 Aprilia RS-GP, continuing to get to know the bike. He also tried to set a fast lap near the end of the session, but without success.
The Portuguese rider summed up the work of this Wednesday: ‘Once again, some things in the aerodynamics – mainly in the front area of the bike. Then we also made some geometry changes to get a better feeling. The feeling was improving little by little. I tried to make a small attack on the stopwatch with new tires at the end of the day, but it didn’t work – I was slower’.
After two days of testing, Oliveira revealed that he is having some difficulties in an area where he was strong in 2023: ‘I end the day with mixed feelings because I felt better with the bike. I’m still not able to be fast in the fast corners, where you have to carry speed through the turn. This was something I had last year that was very, very good, and right now I’m struggling there’.
As for the failed attempt to attack the stopwatch, #88 also explained: ‘I felt that the tire wasn’t at its best, to be honest. But we need to see what actually happened. I don’t want to blame just the tires. We need to analyze. After many laps, especially in the afternoon riding the whole afternoon with the medium rear and the hard front, and then I went straight to the medium front and soft rear. So, it was a bit of a strange feeling’.
