Marc Márquez left Repsol Honda in MotoGP after ten seasons to now compete for Gresini on a Ducati. The decision was not taken lightly, with the rider looking for competitive material in order to fight for the top positions. However, there are those who criticize his choice.
We are talking about Sito Pons, who said on The Race MotoGP podcast that the rider should be loyal to the team: ‘I can understand what Márquez did. Maybe Marc had a reason to break up with HRC because it is clear that things were not working. But my character prevents me from thinking that one should do that. For me, loyalty is essential. Marc has been with Honda for a long time and has achieved a lot with them. And now he has decided to leave because the bike is not good’.
The historic Pons leader also emphasized that the blame for the poor results was not solely on Honda: ‘I regret to say that you can’t put all the blame on the other side when you are also responsible. […] If you are in bed because you are injured, it affects the entire project‘.
