Pedro Acosta is, undoubtedly, one of the standout figures from the MotoGP tests that concluded today in Sepang. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider showed speed and consistency every day, finishing with another top ten by being eighth today.
The rookie was satisfied with his speed and adaptation to the bike, stating: ‘From the moment we started opening up all the controls since the second day of the shakedown, everything became better and the riding is also a bit smoother. Because of this, the bike became more natural. We are on the right path. It is true that we lack a bit in turn 5 and turn 12 because I went a bit wide, maybe attacking too much and forgetting a bit about the exit of the corners. But not everything can be perfect. Anyway, I really enjoyed doing these laps, so I’m happy’.
Regarding the race simulation, Acosta clarified that it was positive, although the focus was not on performance: ‘It was good. In the end, we were able to consistently be in the 1m58s. We were also testing a fuel mapping to understand the lights that appear during races. And it was good because I was very focused on seeing these warnings and knowing how to react properly. The Sprint race simulation was more focused on the bike’s warnings than on being fast’.
