Ducati has introduced several talents in MotoGP, but still does not support any structure in the access categories. Its CEO, Claudio Domenicali, addressed the possibility of having a team participating in the Moto3 World Championship.
‘To create a team in the Moto3 World Championship, it is necessary to think of a specific project, which does not have special complications. If we want to enter the Championship, I believe that we could quickly have a very competitive bike and a very fast engine. It is a potentially interesting project. For now, I don’t want to open too many fronts, but without a doubt, never say never,’ said the executive in an interview with Gazzeta dello Sport.
Domenicali took the opportunity to praise the importance that the general manager Gigi Dall’Igna has had in the various successes of the Italian brand in recent years.
‘When Gigi Dall’Igna arrived in 2013, we had a team in great difficulty and now the results are rewarding us a lot. Currently, however, we score goals frequently. We do not want to grow too much, because we want to have a direct relationship with our customers and offer the best service,’ he said, before detailing one of the next projects that are in the pipeline: a motocross team.
‘We have made a project that started a long time ago a reality. Motocross will open up a completely new market for us,’ declared the CEO.
The project, Ducati Corse Off-Road, will start in this new year of 2024 in national races in Italy, with a 450 cc prototype that will be ridden by Alessandro Lupino and will be supervised by Paolo Ciabatti.
