Pol Espargaró is a wildcard in the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix, and for that reason he is taking the opportunity to do some tests for KTM in a competitive context. This work was already visible in the first free practice session in Spielberg.
The Spanish rider took to the track with a new aerodynamic solution, which seems to be an extension of the swingarm incorporating a profile with aerodynamic cutouts and a small wing.
Espargaró’s RC16 also has an updated exhaust system, with a low side exit and another below the rear section of the bike.
For now, it is not clear what potential benefits this aerodynamics could bring to the KTM RC16 – something to be clarified in the usual interviews after the practice sessions.
That is some striking additional aero from @KTM_Racing! 👀🦈#AustrianGP 🇦🇹 pic.twitter.com/VKWhi9LrP9
