Phillip Island was remarkable for a few reasons, with Toprak Razgatlioglu’s podium debut being one of the reasons to be ’50 percent’ happy, at least for the rider himself.
Looking at his Sunday, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team rider analyzed his work and apparently ended up with mixed feelings: ‘Overall, I would say I am 50 percent happy and 50 percent not. The goal was to reach the podium, which we achieved in the Superpole Race, but in the second main race I was really ready to fight for the win because we had also improved the bike and I felt very good, but then we had the engine problem’.
And he continued, already looking ahead to the next race: ‘These are races and this was the first weekend of the season. In Barcelona, we have to come back very strong. We learned a lot in the races, collected a lot of data, and that is important for our work. Barcelona is next, a challenging circuit like this one. Let’s see how things go there and then we go to Assen and other circuits where we should normally be stronger than here’, before concluding:
– Overall, the start was not bad, especially the Superpole race. I think we will get there step by step. We will test in Barcelona before the race weekend and I think we will focus on race pace because that is very important. We need to find a good setup for the main races.
