Rui Gonçalves was one of the highlights today in the Dakar by finishing Stage 8 in sixth place. The #19 took 3h37m27s to complete the 678km, with 458 of Special, and admitted to being very happy with his performance on a day when he made a mistake that forced him to lose more time.
On social media, the Portuguese spoke about his performance today, where he faced a faster part and a more technical one: ‘Sixth position today, where the first 160km were always in sand and with very fast tracks, then we had a connection of 200km and entered the second part of the special with hard terrain, more rocks, and more technical.’
He also regretted a mistake he made, which did not shake his confidence for the remaining competition: ‘Overall, I felt very good, I did good navigation only with one mistake that made me lose some time in the end. The sixth place in the stage leaves me very satisfied and confident to continue giving my best in this Dakar Rally.’
And he thanked his team: ‘My team Sherco Racing_Factory has been doing a good job and your support has been very important to me, thank you!’
