Pedro Acosta was the leader of the first practice session of the San Marino GP in Moto2. It was in the final phase of the session that he reached the top of the time sheet definitively, despite regularly being in the top positions.
In the first 15 minutes, movements in the table and in the lead were constant, until Ai Ogura (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) set a lap time that put him at the top for about a quarter of an hour.
The Japanese rider was beaten by his teammate Somkiat Chantra, but in the last ten minutes the protagonist was Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex). The Spanish rider embarked on a sequence of fast laps and, in the best of them, stopped the clock at 1m36.488s.
It was enough to beat Ogura by 0.191s. Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing/Kalex) finished third, followed by Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) and Bo Bendsneyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team/Kalex) in the top five. Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex), second in the championship, could only manage ninth fastest time.
