Miguel Oliveira finished the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix Sprint race in 13th place, the same position he started in. The Trackhouse Racing man was in the fight for points positions for a good part of the race, but on the last lap he lost three positions almost at once.
Good start by the “Falcão”, who after starting in 13th place, reached tenth place for a few moments before settling in 11th position. He then got involved in a battle for tenth place with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha).
Already in the second lap, Oliveira received a warning for exceeding track limits. The points positions were close, with Brad Binder and Pol Espargaró (Red Bull KTM) just ahead – their positions eventually swapped ten laps before the checkered flag.
By the sixth lap, the Portuguese rider lost tenth place to Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati), having a slower pace than the Italian at that stage. On lap ten, Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) crashed while in second place, and Oliveira returned to the top ten… and dreaming of points.
At that stage of the race, he was less than two tenths behind Pol Espargaró, even overtaking him on lap 11 before losing the position almost immediately. And Oliveira ended up not being able to score points, losing three places on the last lap to Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), Maverick Viñales, and Quartararo, finishing in 13th place.
