Fermin Aldeguer is one of the great promises of Spanish motorcycle racing and MotoGP. The Spanish rider has fallen short of expectations during the beginning of this season, after surprising everyone in the previous season. Fermin, with his surprising performance in 2023, signed a two-season contract with Ducati where he will move up to the premier class.
In statements for the podcast ‘La Fórmula del Éxito’, he talked about his intentions for this Moto2 season and his physical and mental work.
– The real dream is to be a champion, not only in Moto2 but also in MotoGP. And we are getting closer and closer. The champion is the one who has the most discipline. Of course, talent is what helps the most, but you have to work. In the end, you have to work. You need to have mental stability and know how to think on the bike. There are many times when we are afraid, for example, when we see another rider fall. But we also have a lot of respect, after a fall, to go through the same corner again. Most of the time we are on the bike, we do things instinctively.
He also added about the support his family has always given despite financial difficulties: ‘When I was little, I didn’t realize it, it was like a hobby. But when I was twelve or thirteen years old, the value of money mattered a lot; there was a moment when the team told me: ‘A sponsor gave up, we can’t continue racing.’ The only option is to win.’
