Marc Márquez remains the youngest ever winner in MotoGP. Pedro Acosta had the possibility of beating that record this Sunday at the German Grand Prix, but he was far from being able to compete at the top and finished only seventh.
In the 2013 Americas Grand Prix, Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) won for the first time in the premier class, at the age of 20 years and 63 days. Today, Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) is 20 years and 43 days old.
With the summer break starting and lasting until August, the rookie will no longer be able to beat the eight-time world champion’s record in the next round, the British Grand Prix – on race day, he will be 20 years and 69 days old.
According to all indications, the next rider with a chance to become the youngest ever winner in MotoGP will be Fermín Aldeguer. The rider has his promotion to MotoGP confirmed for 2025, aboard a Ducati, and will make his debut before turning 20 years old in April of next year. This should give him at least four to five Grand Prix races to surpass the record, if the calendar follows the trend of recent seasons.
