Jorge Martín was the fastest on the first day of MotoGP Americas GP practice. The rider already went below the Circuit of the Americas record lap by clocking in at 2m01.397s and expects improvements this Saturday.
The closest to the Prima Pramac Racing rider was Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) – second by only 0.076s. Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) followed, while Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) was fifth and the last to enter the 2m01s.
Asked about who he considers to be his strongest rivals in Austin, Martín said: ‘At the moment I see Maverick, but I think maybe in terms of pace… well, I haven’t seen the times yet, but I think Pecco will be strong and also Marc will be one of the toughest for the weekend‘.
After his victory in Portugal, the 2023 world championship runner-up arrives at the Americas GP leading the championship. He has 18 more points than Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM), who was only 14th in practice yesterday.
