Jorge Martín was the MotoGP world championship runner-up last year, being beaten only in the final round of the season by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). However, he once again did not secure a place in the official team of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, remaining in the Pramac Racing satellite team – despite having factory equipment.
The rider, who currently leads the championship, has made it clear that in 2025 he wants to be in an official team, whether it is with Ducati or not. Pramac itself has admitted that they do not count on Martín’s continuity beyond this year.
Jaime Alguersuari spoke about the issue on the Dura La Vita podcast, admitting that he understands the frustration of the Spaniard – especially after the signing of Fermín Aldeguer by Ducati:
– One must be fair, Martín says “I’m really fed up, I’m winning, I don’t have the official bike even though it seems like I do… and they talk about [Marc] Márquez, about [Pedro] Acosta, and not about me who is winning.” Jorge may have been bothered by the signing of an 18-year-old, when he is there winning.
It will not be easy for Martín to secure a place in the Ducati official team in 2025. Enea Bastianini is at the end of his contract, but so far he has shown good performance in the new season – as well as Marc Márquez, who is a naturally desirable target and seems to have the skills to fight at the front now that he has left Repsol Honda to join Gresini… riding a Ducati.
