Fermín Aldeguer did not give the opposition a chance in the first practice session of the Americas GP of Moto2. The session, which already counts to define the qualifiers directly for the second phase of qualifying, had the Spanish rider almost always at the top.
After the first flying laps, Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) was in the lead, but was surpassed by Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) about two minutes later. And, until the end, no one dethroned the future MotoGP rider.
Aldeguer improved his time four times, the last one on the final lap, to set a new record: 2m08.359s. The closest competitor was Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), 0.282s behind, followed by Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex).
The top five was completed by Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (CFMoto Asterius Aspar/Kalex). The championship leader entering this Americas GP, Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex), could only manage tenth place, 0.768s behind the leader. Just ahead of him was Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), who had set the pace in the free practice session.
