David Alonso continues to perform well and secured the best time and respective pole position for the Aragon GP this morning. The CFMoto Gaviota Aspar Team rider will thus start the race tomorrow from the best position.
With about three minutes into the session, the crashes continued to happen, now in Q2 with Jacob Roustone going down at turn 4, and a couple of minutes later Ivan Ortolá went off track but managed to avoid falling.
David Alonso was leading with a time of 1:59.867s, Joel Kelso was second with a 0.354s delay, and Matteo Bertelle was third at 1.103s.
The session quickly reached its halfway point, with Ortolá now in third, while the riders headed for the usual pit stop in the teams’ garage.
With the all-or-nothing approach, at the restart, the leader became Collin Veijer with a lap time of 1:59.717s, but he was overtaken by Alonso who completed a lap in 1:58.059s.
Before the session ended, David Almansa also fell without any serious injuries.
Thus, after the completion of Q2, Alonso secured the pole position, with Jose Antonio Rueda in second and David Muñoz in third, thus closing the first row of the grid.
