David Alonso was the strongest on the first day of the Aragon Moto3 Grand Prix. After leading the free practice, he also led the afternoon practice… and with a new record lap at MotorLand Aragón.
José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) led for the first 25 minutes, until he was beaten by Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP). The Dutchman lost the position to Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda), but quickly regained it.
In the following minutes, David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) also reached the top of the timing sheet, where Rueda returned… before Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar) made a sequence of two fast laps to achieve the record lap: 1m57.052s.
No one had the pace to keep up with the Colombian, but Rueda improved to finish second, 0.210s behind. David Almansa (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) set the third fastest time ahead of Veijer and Muñoz. Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM), second in the championship, recorded the sixth fastest time, 0.890s behind Alonso.
