Pedro Acosta a terminé le Grand Prix du Qatar de MotoGP à la neuvième place, mais a laissé entrevoir des indications enthousiasmantes pour sa saison de début en MotoGP. Le jeune de Red Bull GasGas Tech3 roulait près des places sur le podium avant de tomber en panne, et malgré sa satisfaction quant à sa performance, il sait qu’il y a encore beaucoup de travail à faire.
Lors d’une interview avec Nico Abad, le prodige espagnol a déclaré : ‘J’étais content; il manquait juste la finition. La vérité est que je pense que nous étions à un niveau auquel nous ne pensions même pas pouvoir atteindre. Je pense surtout que lors de la deuxième course, qui était difficile, nous avons montré un niveau bien plus élevé que celui que nous avions lors de la Sprint. […]. Je pense que nous devons être plus que satisfaits’.
According to Acosta, the conditions he found in the main race at Losail were more favorable, but also this year’s bike helped: ‘I think especially in the long race it was a much more natural situation for me – much more weight with the fuel, many more laps… […] . I think this year we achieved much more traction with the bike than with the frame I had in Valencia – and it’s much more about racing. So it allowed me to brake much later, allowed me to enter with much more confidence, which I think was something I was lacking a bit with the aluminum frame. So, I believe it was a consequence of many things. The truth is that I had a pretty good pace in the first part of the race. I think in the end we made a mistake by managing so much and that’s why we had that pace, but I think little by little we have to polish the details‘.
