CFMoto has revealed more details about its future 675 cc three-cylinder engine platform, which seems destined to give rise to a new sportbike.
The ambitious Chinese brand is not only a partner of KTM in producing the latest 790 Adventure from the Austrian brand, but also has been launching a constant number of models with increasingly larger and more impressive displacements.
More recently, we have become acquainted with the naked 800NK with a 94 hp twin-cylinder engine, and the launch of a new 675SR three-cylinder is expected next year, based on the engine platform we see here. This was confirmed in October when CFMOTO showcased a prototype to a live audience at the ZhuZhou International Circuit.
Now, the company has officially announced for the first time that the new three-cylinder engine will provide a maximum torque of 67.7 Nm at 8250rpm, along with a maximum power of “over 100 hp” at a peak of 12,300rpm. They also claim that the engine will achieve acceleration values of 0-96.5 km/h in “just three seconds”.
But perhaps even more exciting is CFMOTO’s additional revelation that the new unit is 10% lighter than similar engines, weighing only 55 kg – partly due to the use of forged aluminum pistons.
This is CFMOTO’s first three-cylinder engine, and it is unlikely that the company has developed it to be used only in one model.
In addition to the 675SR, we may very well see other motorcycles coming, with a statement from the company saying that it will be the basis for new and exciting models launched during 2024.
