Pedro Acosta continues to impress. This Sunday, he was the second classified in the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas, stepping onto the podium for the second consecutive time. And, if in Portimão it could be said that he benefited from rivals’ crashes, this time there is no doubt about his merit.
The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rookie was consistently fighting for the top three and, for the first time in his career, led a race in the premier class. However, he had no arguments to hold off Maverick Viñales and finished in second place.
In the quick interview with the official broadcast, Acosta admitted that it was a race in which he not only had fun, but also learned from his opponents:
– Aside from the result, it was an incredible race. You can’t imagine how much fun I had overtaking the guys and having fun with them. It was completely fantastic. We learned a lot from the guys who overtake me in the middle of the race.
Regarding the choice of the medium rear tire, Acosta commented: ‘I know it was a bit risky to ride with the medium rear tire, but as I say, we have nothing to lose. For this, I am more than happy‘.
