Toprak Razgatlioglu is one of the reference riders in the World Superbike Championship, but throughout this year there has been speculation about a possible move to MotoGP in 2024 – he even tested the Yamaha YZR-M1.
However, the Turkish rider chose to stay in WSBK and moved to BMW. His expectation is to lead the German manufacturer to titles, in a new challenge after his successes alongside Yamaha.
Ben Spies is one of the few riders in history who switched from WSBK to MotoGP. Quoted by SPEEDWEEK.com, the American revealed that he advised Razgatlioglu not to follow in his footsteps – all because of the required adaptation:
– My overall riding style was not suitable for MotoGP. It’s like Toprak Razgatlioglu, who I almost put on par with Marc Márquez in terms of talent. I spoke to him after the tests with the M1 and told him it was going to be difficult for him.
