Álex Márquez and Pedro Acosta secured their spots in Q2! Both riders were consistently among the fastest, but it was Álex who ultimately stole the spotlight from Raúl Fernández, ensuring his place among the fastest in the category.
Here is the first Q1 in this MotoGP comeback, and the question was: who would secure a place in Q2? Franco Morbidelli, Raúl Fernández, Pedro Acosta, Álex Márquez, Miguel Oliveira, Fabio Quartararo, Johann Zarco, Luca Marini, Augusto Fernández, Joan Mir, Taka Nakagami, and Remy Gardner were ready for the challenge!
And as the first fast laps emerged, Acosta took the lead with 1:58.702s, ahead of Morbidelli, but the Italian was surpassed by R. Fernández, with a lap in 1:59.007s.
The session continued at a good pace and halfway through, Á. Márquez was already in the lead, but Acosta fought back and took the lead again by completing a lap in 1:58.651s. Then came the usual stop in the garages to finalize the final details.
With approximately three minutes left, the riders headed back to the British circuit, and Raúl Fernández had red sectors, utilizing the RS-GP 24 to his advantage. After setting red sectors, the Spaniard took the lead in the session, but… not for long: Acosta, once again, set the fastest lap and was in the lead, provisionally securing his spot in Q2.
Fernández made another attempt, but in the end, he narrowly missed improving his time and, worse, saw Á. Márquez take the lead and push him out of Q2.
La Q1 s’est terminée juste après avec Á. Márquez et Acosta garantissant la possibilité de se battre pour la pole position.
