Under the new MotoGP concession system, Monster Energy Yamaha will be entitled to six wildcards next season. These are usually used to put the test rider on the track in a competitive environment, helping with the development of the bike, but the Japanese manufacturer does not know if it will take advantage of the six possible wildcards.
Director Lin Jarvis explained to SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘It doesn’t make sense if these wildcards are not part of our development program. But we will definitely do more than this year, because one wildcard is really not enough. I am convinced that we will do at least three, maybe more‘.
With Cal Crutchlow secured as a test rider until the end of 2025, Yamaha also plans to do more testing in Europe, thus accelerating the development of the YZR-M1.
