Triumph will soon be returning to the medium-displacement sportbike segment with the Daytona 660. Despite the historically significant name Daytona, this is not a motorcycle designed for competition at the highest level. Instead, it is a comfortable and easy-to-ride sportbike that fits into a class that has been reinvented and where the main competing brands already have their own models.
The novelty is that it is the first three-cylinder in this segment, equipped with the engine that powers the Trident and Tiger Sport 660 but with several internal improvements. In this model, the engine delivers 95 hp, a 17% improvement, and is clearly stronger in the mid and high rev ranges, without losing power in the low revs, as the maximum torque has also increased. It has a new exhaust and the frame is also new, while the rest of the chassis aims to be at the highest level in terms of dynamics and comfort.
It features a 41mm inverted Showa big piston fork and a rear mono-shock from the same brand, while in terms of braking, the two discs are accompanied by 4-piston radial calipers. On the ground, it has Michelin Power 6 sport tires, the seat is placed at 810mm from the ground, and the passenger seat is spacious. The handlebars are positioned above the triple clamps and the footpegs are positioned halfway between the comfort objective and a high ground clearance in corners. In fact, the Daytona aims to be just as comfortable in the city or on the road as it is on a track day. The motorcycle is equipped with three riding modes, Sport, Road, and Rain, as well as traction control. It can also be limited for A2 license holders and comes with over 30 genuine Triumph accessories.
Triumph declares 201 kg fully loaded for its new Daytona 660, a motorcycle that the British brand intends to take to the top of the class. We here are very curious and as soon as we have the opportunity, we will carry out a test for the program. The first units will arrive at Portuguese dealerships during the month of April with a retail price in Portugal starting from €9,895 (RRP).
