Tim Gajser and Lucas Coenen were the winners of the MXGP and MX2 motocross World Championship qualifying races in Loket. The Czech MXGP started this Saturday.
Jorge Prado (Red Bull GasGas) made the holeshot in the MXGP qualifying race, but was overtaken by Gajser during the first lap. The Team HRC rider never gave up the lead until the end.
Even after being overtaken, Prado didn’t stop trying to pressure his rival for a good part of the race, but finished 5.204s behind Gajser. Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM) finished third, a position he reached on the first lap.
The battle for fourth place was even closer, with Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki) securing it five laps before the end after overtaking Mattia Guadagnini (Red Bull KTM) – who would only finish seventh.
Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) started the MX2 qualifying race with the holeshot, leading for a good part of the distance… until he was overtaken by his brother Lucas (Nestaan Husqvarna) on the tenth lap.
Until the end, Sacha couldn’t recover the position, and Lucas secured the victory with just a 1.050s lead. Liam Everts (Red Bull KTM) reached third place on the penultimate lap, after overtaking Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull GasGas), finishing less than two seconds behind the top.
