Ducati currently has eight motorcycles in MotoGP – two factory bikes and six in three satellite teams. Last year, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac) was in the title fight with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), with the Italian coming out on top. Casey Stoner, who was also champion with the manufacturer in 2007, disapproved of some of their actions.
The Australian believes that Ducati gave team orders to their satellite teams, considering it is not a correct way to win – assuming that he is against such a large presence of the manufacturer in the field:
– I’m not very happy that they have so many bikes in the field, since they can essentially control each team and demand results from them that are not right. It’s fine to execute team orders, but there shouldn’t be any orders from the manufacturer. I lost a lot of respect for them after they reached this level. If they have to win at all costs, they have no honor in my eyes. I also know that Pecco [Bagnaia] wouldn’t have wanted to win like this. They want to win at any cost and for me, that is not honorable.
