Miguel Oliveira abandoned the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix. It was on the twentieth lap that a crash took out the man from the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team, while he was fighting for nineteenth place.
The start was not ideal for the Almada rider, who lost positions: he even ended up in last place, but still finished the first lap in the nineteenth position he had on the starting grid. Ahead of him was his teammate Raúl Fernández, until he was overtaken by Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) on the third lap.
Joan Mir’s crash (Repsol Honda) on the fifth lap put Oliveira back in nineteenth place. The Portuguese rider managed to stay in contact with Nakagami, but without a chance to launch an attack. He would lose a position to Pol Espargaró (GasGas Tech3/KTM) on the fifth lap… one lap before being forced to retire with a crash in turn nine.
