Maverick Viñales is currently the reference for Aprilia in MotoGP. The rider dominated the Americas GP about two weeks ago, and before that in Portugal he was the only one from the Noale manufacturer who managed to fight for the podium – he had to retire due to technical problems near the end of the race.
In the satellite team Trackhouse Racing, Miguel Oliveira emphasized that he has to understand his own path, but admitted that he is still paying attention to Viñales’ performance:
– He is simply fitting in with the bike and making things work for him. And we need to understand our path, what to do, and that’s basically what we’re trying to do – obviously looking at what he’s doing because he is a good reference. But in Austin he was simply riding at another level.
Before the Spanish GP, Viñales is in third place in the championship. Oliveira, on the other hand, is in 14th place, with his best result so far being ninth place in Portimão. Nevertheless, he has scored points in all rounds so far.
