Miguel Oliveira is secure in MotoGP until the end of the current season but does not feel that now is the time to talk about a possible contract renewal, even saying that what he wants now is to ‘repay’ Aprilia’s trust and do what he was hired for.
Regarding a possible renewal, the Portuguese rider dismissed any conversation at this time: ‘I finished, I think, nine races last year, out of the 20 or 21 races we had. My only genuine feeling right now is that I want to repay the trust that Aprilia has placed in me and start doing the things I was hired for, and that’s it’.
And then he explained that he, among many others, will be in the same situation: ‘In the future, nineteen riders on the grid are without a contract, so I am as concerned as they are. Finally, things are as they are. I don’t agree that we should talk about next year on January 27 [Trackhouse Racing’s presentation day]. I think it’s a bit too early and I think we’ll end up getting to that point when it’s necessary. Right now, it’s not in my plans to think about it’.
Oliveira has already been linked to the official Aprilia Racing team for 2025 but, at this time, it is too early to guess what will happen, since both Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales will also end their contracts.
