Marc Márquez and Álex Márquez share a very special relationship and will be teammates again in 2024, as it has already happened before (in 2020, in the Repsol Honda Team), but that doesn’t mean that they “spare” each other, with the older of the brothers and new member of Gresini clearly stating: Álex will be his first rival.
The #93 had no problem talking about this rivalry with Álex, highlighting the competitive spirit that both have, in a press conference organized by Estrella Galicia 0.0: ‘The teammate is the first rival, but in this case, it’s all in the family. We are both here to compete, it’s in our genes. Naturally, if I can beat Álex, better, and if he can beat me, better for him’.
If the relationship off the track is one thing and on the track is another, there is still time to try to help each other, as said by the new member of the Gresini team: ‘The main thing is also to try to help each other, as we have always done at home. Then, on the track, each of us has our technical team and our own problems. It’s not even good to talk too much because sometimes a comment from me can sound completely different to him, so we will continue as we have been doing, each with our own technical team and at home helping each other as much as possible to prepare well for race weekends’.
With the start of the 2024 season getting closer and closer, there are high expectations for Marc Márquez for what he did with the Desmosedici in the Valencia tests, and many hesitate to place him as one of the main candidates for the world title.
