Marc Márquez currently has eight world titles in his career and has today, or even more (probably) from 2025 onwards, some of the best “tools” to achieve the ninth and maybe even more, but a specific number as a goal, he admitted, is something he has never defined.
The Gresini Racing rider was directly asked by Cadena SER if his goal is to surpass the nine titles that Valentino Rossi has, and in his response, Márquez clarified, without mentioning the Italian: ‘I have never had a number as a reference and now, even less so’.
Márquez then recalled what his main goals are, remembering the need he had to make when leaving Honda: ‘This year I said that I had to have fun again to continue with my sports career and I achieved it. We developed a plan, a strategy. Obviously there is not only one path, but two, and that’s where with the results on the track you can follow one or the other’.
Before thinking about the title, which is something he has already said he has in mind for 2025, first you have to be able to win again: ‘Victory comes first, because without victories there are no titles. There are people who have done it, like [Emiliano] Alzamora, but it is very difficult’.
