Johann Zarco is making a good impression at LCR Honda. The rider, who came from Pramac, deserves praise from owner Lucio Cecchinello, after finishing 12th in the Qatar GP – where he was the best of the Honda riders.
In statements quoted on SPEEDWEEK.com, the Italian stated: ‘It seems that Johann has a very good feeling with the throttle. As a result, he has slightly less tire slip on each lap. It’s not just his talent, it’s also experience for sure‘.
According to Cecchinello’s perspective, Zarco controls the throttle well and, thanks to that, in the Qatar GP he took advantage of having the tires in good condition at the end: ‘All riders like to slide with the rear and it’s also fun. However, it’s not effective and lap times usually suffer as the race goes on. Johann manages the throttle very well and therefore can prevent a bit of this tire wear, so he also had a slight advantage at the end in Doha. He said he would have also overtaken [Fabio] Quartararo if the race had two more laps‘.
