Honda is not going through the best moment in MotoGP, but one of the top riders on the grid does not rule out a possible change to the Japanese manufacturer. At least for now, but Jorge Martín is closely monitoring the progress the manufacturer is making.
Second place in the 2023 world championship, Martín continues to pursue a place in the Ducati factory team and may “apply” again in 2024, but he sees a change to Honda as something that is not completely out of the question, as he told AS, also recalling Luca Marini, who left Ducati (then Mooney VR46 Racing Team) to try his luck with the RC213: ‘My position is different from Marini’s, because I am winning and he is stagnant. But if I see that Honda improves a little, or that in the long term it can be a winning project, it would be a good option’.
Still, Martín made it clear what his main goal is at the moment: ‘But now with Ducati I can enjoy more’.
Martín and Honda is not something new, since the Spaniard has been linked to the brand several times, but now it is certain that, at least until the end of 2024, Pramac will be his home, with the rider looking at the factory, once again in a battle with Enea Bastianini.
As for Luca Marini, the first impressions of 2024 seem good, and at the end of the season a place in the team may be another option for many
