This start of the AMA Supercross 450 could hardly have gone better for Jett Lawrence, with the Honda rider winning the main race of the competition at Angel Stadium.
After winning the AMA Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross 450 last year, the rider continued his winning streak, now in Anaheim. Speaking about his day, the rider said: ‘Obviously, after the first turns, it was a bit difficult, because it’s a bit… obviously the first turns are very chaotic, but as soon as I could see the track clear and know that Jason [Anderson] wasn’t too close to make a pass. It was more or less like, let’s gain some distance’.
And he continued: ‘I think we got to about three seconds, so, okay, let’s see, try to hold on to this and not make any stupid mistakes and conserve energy just in case it comes down to the end. These guys are in good shape, so they keep pushing the whole race. So, it’s not just waiting, but also storing energy for the final laps, but I managed to make the gap big enough to be able to enter the race, luckily’.
The next round of the championship is already next weekend, at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
