BMW enters this year’s Superbike World Championship with renewed hopes and ambitions. The investment has increased with the hiring of Toprak Razgatlioglu and the creation of a test team, and team manager Shaun Muir believes, at least, in victories.
Although pleased with the progress, the manager emphasized to SPEEDWEEK.com that much more is needed throughout 2024: ‘We took a big step – with the test team, the quality of the riders, and with the hiring of Toprak. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work ahead of us. We know where we stand with our setup, the development is progressing well. But we have to improve this year, there is no doubt about that’.
Regarding the possibilities of Razgatlioglu becoming champion this year, Muir commented: ‘It is realistic for us to win races and be on the podium very often. But we are in our first year together, it takes time to adapt. Whatever it takes, we adapt the bike to the way Toprak needs it. Winning the World Championship in 2024 is a very big task, only Toprak knows if he can do it’.
