Yamaha is working tirelessly to regain ground in MotoGP against the competition and the results, believes Fabio Quartararo, are starting to show little by little. The manufacturer is investing heavily in engine production, and the Frenchman has already seen some improvements, but he mentioned that there are many aspects that need to be reviewed in the M1.
With a three-week break ahead, Quartararo believes that the team now has a lot of data to continue implementing a significant improvement, and that there have already been positive signs:
– We tested an engine in Valencia a few weeks ago, in fact, we tested two engines: one we have had since Assen and the other we have now, and there is another one to come in the future. The other one works better and that is very positive, but of course, that is one thing: it is a little better in the corners but there are many more things that we need to improve and I believe that with all the data we have from the first half of the season, I believe that understanding the engines after eight or nine races can be positive.
Now the priority is to rest, something that practically did not happen in the previous break, as the former world champion explained: ‘There is a testing ban [in July], but to be honest, I am happy that we have a little rest because between Mugello and Assen, there were three weeks off but we didn’t rest for a second. I only had four days off, it was tough, and now I also want to have a week to relax’.
