Aprilia will have three current bikes in MotoGP from the beginning of the season. Two belong to the factory team riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, and another one belongs to Miguel Oliveira from Trackhouse Racing – whose teammate, Raúl Fernández, will start the year with last season’s version.
When asked if this year’s RS-GP bikes will all be identical, the rider from Almada replied: ‘Good question, I believe so. Raúl, obviously, will be a little different, but let’s say the main bike will be the same‘.
Oliveira then explained why the specifications will be similar: ‘At this moment, it’s difficult to come and put an aerodynamic package without working on the bike that suddenly is better. I think it’s very difficult to achieve that, so I believe that at this moment the 2023 bike is probably more balanced, but I think the 2024 one has some unexplored potential. We don’t know what the bike can actually do, so we just have to go to the track and find out‘.
