The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider set the fastest lap. Thus, at 19 years and 290 days, he became the youngest ever to achieve the fastest lap. The previous record holder was Fabio Quartararo.
In what was also a new record time in Losail, Acosta lapped in 1m52.657s. The second fastest was Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), 0.010s behind.
