Aprilia has confirmed Jorge Martín for the 2024 MotoGP season, now it remains to be seen who will accompany him. Maverick Viñales is the constructor’s biggest desire, but the rider is still considering and allegedly has at least one other proposal: from Honda, which is very advantageous from a financial point of view.
If the Spaniard leaves, Aprilia will have to look for a replacement. The options at the moment are still several, with several riders nearing the end of their contracts, as well as the current duo of the Trackhouse Racing satellite team: Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández.
Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, told GPOne.com: ‘We are always consistent and fair to our riders. Maverick is our priority, but marriages are made by two and we will not force it. If, as I hope, he wants to stay with us, we will be happy, otherwise, we will move on to the market’.
And in this case, Oliveira is not an excluded possibility for Rivola: ‘An Italian would be a possibility, but we will also have to see if Oliveira will make that last leap that he still lacks’, he said.
