Aleix Espargaró was again the leader in the second free practice of the Catalunya MotoGP Grand Prix, promising to be one of the strong candidates for pole position in Barcelona in qualifying. Miguel Oliveira finished in sixth.
At the beginning of the session, the first leader was Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati). Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) was the next rider to take the lead, with Martín dropping to eighth on the second flying laps… before climbing to third.
The table stabilized in the top positions for a few minutes, with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in second just 0.012s behind Espargaró. At that time, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) and Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Racing/Aprilia) were also in the top five.
A classification that changed 17 minutes before the end, when Morbidelli positioned himself in third. This top three did not change, with Espargaró leading the session ahead of Bagnaia, with Morbidelli in third.
Martín was fourth and Acosta finished fifth, while Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing) took the second best Aprilia to sixth place. Quartararo finished in seventh place.
