The Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zontes has been in the market for some time. The company’s products usually occupy the smaller displacement range, typically between 125cc and 350cc.
In recent months, Zontes has been successful thanks to the development of a new engine, an engine that raises the brand’s performance level. We have previously talked about a new three-cylinder engine from the brand and now Zontes has revealed not one, but two concepts with the new engine. Zontes has targeted two popular segments in the mid-displacement motorcycle scene with the new ZT 703 F adventure-tourer and the ZT 703 RR sportbike.
Overall, the new models feature a new aluminum frame and swingarm, designed to provide rigidity and stability while keeping the weight of the motorcycles low. Both models have the same 699cc three-cylinder engine, but each bike receives a different tuning for their specific riding styles. On one hand, the ZT 703 F produces a respectable 85 Nm of torque at 7,200 rpm and 100 hp at 9,000 rpm. On the other hand, the more sporty ZT 703 RR delivers 111.5 hp at 11,000 rpm and 75 Nm of torque at 8,600 rpm.
As soon as these two new models hit the market, it will be interesting to see how they perform in relation to the more established models in the market. Many motorcyclists consider three-cylinder engines to be the perfect balance between the torque of a two-cylinder engine and the linear power of a four-cylinder inline engine, and the increasing number of tricilindric engines is a clear sign that many other people share the same feeling. Needless to say, it is likely that the new Zontes models will have a much more affordable price than their conventional counterparts.
